International Women’s Day is celebrated all over the world on 8th March.
It is a global day connecting all women around the world and inspiring them to achieve their full potential.
International Women’s Day celebrates the collective power of women, past, present and future.
Below are a few events taking place in the city as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations.
Wednesday 5 March 11am – 4pm
Women’s Health and Wellbeing Day
St Mary’s Leisure Centre
Women Only
Stalls with information on health issues.
Activities ranging from aerobics, badminton, wall-climbing taster sessions, fitness inductions, tai-chi, information on healthy living and local services.
Other attractions: henna tattooing, massage, jewellery making.
Bouncy castle and trampoline for children and young at heart.
Free body health checks 12.00 noon – 3.00pm
FREE RAFFLE.
Thursday 6 March 11am – 12 noon
Southampton Women’s Forum Presents: Civic Centre Launch Event
Civic Centre Foyer
Opening ceremony at the foyer with Mayor’s speech and then celebrations in the library.
Djembabes drumming group.
Chinese Dance.
Afghani Dance.
Somali Dance.
Saturday 15 March 10am – 2pm
Southampton Women’s Forum presents: “Is My Life Worth Anything?”
Honour Violence Workshop
African Caribbean Centre, Trinity Road
Group Work.
Presentation on domestic and honour based violence.
Presentation by Councillor Parvin Damani.
Free lunch provided.
